Harlow Glass recently completed an impressive project involving the installation of frameless glass balustrades for a new roof terrace, providing stunning views of St Paul’s Cathedral in London. This intricate task required seamless coordination with the main contractor and steel sub-contractor to achieve a fully frameless effect without visible glazing supports.

Our approach involved installing a continuous structural aluminium base shoe around the terrace perimeter, affixed to a secondary steel structure attached to the existing roof. This method allowed for safe, terrace-based installation without extending beyond the building parapet. Using a dry glaze system ensures quick and efficient panel replacement if needed in the future, with minimal disruption.

To expedite installation, panels were prefabricated based on coordinated AutoCAD drawings, enabling immediate placement following the base shoe installation. This not only swiftly established a secure barrier for the terrace but also accelerated the overall project timeline. The final touch involved seamlessly integrating new decking up to the glass panels, enhancing the terrace's striking frameless aesthetic.
